Cecil Fredrick Melvin, age 91, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Upper Valley Medical Center. One of eleven children, he was born on January 19, 1931 in Troy, Ohio to the late Cora (Wildermuth) and Lloyd Melvin. Cecil was a graduate of Troy High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He retired as a Wonder Bread salesman in 1994 and stayed busy for many years during his retirement mowing lawns and doing odd jobs for neighbors, earning the nickname "The Honorary Mayor of Farnham." Cecil never said no when someone asked for his help and volunteered many hours as a handyman for the St. Patrick Soup Kitchen. He never passed up an opportunity to visit the hardware store, as his friends at True Value Hardware will tell you.

Cecil is survived by his five children Beth (Tony) Sears of South Lake Tahoe, California, Mark (Steffani) Melvin, Charles (Cathie) Melvin and Matthew Melvin and significant other Amy Watt of Troy, and Annette (Paul) D'Innocenzo of New York, New York; five grandchildren Jessica, Alex, Robby, Laura and Katie; six great-grandchildren Hailey, Felix, Mila, Liam, Tristan, and Aveyen; sisters Betty Woolery of Troy and Linda Pfister of Blairsville, Georgia; brothers Harold, Bill and Jerry Melvin of Troy, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Marsha Melvin and Helen West, brothers Lloyd, Robert and Forest Melvin, and granddaughter Kaitlyn Melvin.

Cecil loved to share stories of the people and places he remembered from his childhood in Troy. He was delighted to travel to Washington D.C. in 2018 as a participant in Honor Flight Dayton. He was happiest at home, puttering in his garage or working in the yard. Cecil loved his family, and he will be greatly missed. "Ditto, ditto, Dad!"

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 25th at Baird Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
