Cassa Elizabeth Benham Johnson, 80, of Troy died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Miami Valley Hospital following heart surgery on Monday, April 5. Mrs. Johnson was born in Elizabeth Township on June 28, 1923, to the late Frank and Mary Young Benham. She graduated from Elizabeth Township High School in 1941 and from Miami University in 1944. Mrs. Johnson married her late husband, Dan Johnson on April 8, 1945. Mrs. Johnson taught in the Troy City Schools at Kyle Elementary from 1961 to 1986, 23 years in the first grade. She was active in the La Sertoma service organization. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, first at Stouder Memorial Hospital and then at Upper Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Johnson is survived by four children and on son-in-law, Jane, Joe fiancee, Deborah Cade and Jeff of Troy, and Jill Bob Bonnici of Cincinnait. She is survived by six grandchildren, Elizabeth James Quinton of Charleston, SC, Lindsey Johnson of Ft. Collins, CO, Stefanie, Chauncey and Cindy of Troy, and Jennifer Scot Kathmann of Apex, NC. She is also survived by one brother, Lloyd Benham Martha in Pitchen, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Johnson, and four brothers, Robert Benham, Arthur Benham, Roy Benham, and John Benham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church building fund, 20 S. Walnut Street, Troy, Ohio 45373, or the Miami Valley Heart Association, 3797 Summit Glen Drive, Suite G100, Dayton, Ohio 45449. The Rev. Richard Culp will be officiating the service, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
