Carol J. (Shope) Phelps, age 80, of Troy passed away on January 3, 2024 at SpringMeade in Tipp City.  She was born on April 27, 1943 in Troy to the late Albert and Virginia (Fish) Shope.

Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years of marriage: B. Ray Phelps; three children: Michael (Angie) Phelps of Gahanna, William (Suzan) Phelps of Gallaton, TN and Ginger Kavalauskas of Hamilton; sister: Merrikay (Louis) Hall of New York, NY; eight grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Marisa, Kirk, Sarah, Greg, Mike, Ethan and Braden and four great grandchildren: Zoey, McKinlee, Jonathan and Madeline. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her stepmother: Anna Shope and granddaughter: Anna Kavalauskas.

She was a 1961 graduate of Troy High School.  She was a 50 year member, Past Worthy Matron and Grand Deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #256. She enjoyed needlepoint, cross stitch and reading.

Carol was a former aid with the Troy City Schools.  She worked with the City of Troy as a police dispatcher and retired from Miami County as a 911 operator.

Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00PM on January 15, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00-7:00PM.  Private interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
