Carol L. "Mr. E" Elrod, age 89, of Tipp City passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at his residence.  He was born 19 June 1927 in Greenwood, NE, to the late James Garfield and Martha King Elrod.

He was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force, having served for 22 years.  He was later employed at Hines Hardware Store in Tipp City until its closure.  Mr. E gleaned an interest in player pianos, and through entertaining in a local antique shop for several years, he became known as The Piano Man.  He was a past member of the Kettering Banjo Society, was a Cincinnati Reds fan, and he liked to entertain his family and friends with rides in his 1923 Model-T Ford.  He attended Christian Life Center.

Mr. E was a kind and generous husband, dad, and grandfather.  He is preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Lynn Rasor.  He is survived by wife, Beverly, son Mark (Barbara) and daughter Holly (Jon) DeFord, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 4, 2017at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Private interment will take place at a later date.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
