Carlton E. "Chip" Shafer II, age 76, of Piqua, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his residence.  He was born on April 25, 1947, in Troy to the late Carlton E. and Naomi Mae (Thompson) Shafer.

Chip is survived by  three children: Jonathan (Sunnie) Shafer of Huber Heights, Deneen Kay Wick of Piqua and Daniel Lee Spitler of Vandalia; one sister: Deana Allen of Troy; seven grandchildren: Danielle Shafer, Colt Black, Lacie, Rian and Justin Lynn, Sara Freeman and Kassandra Spitler; and eleven great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Barry H. Spitler.

Chip was a 1965 graduate of Troy High School.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force during Vietnam.  Chip attended Lutheran Church of God in Piqua.  He was a member of Troy Moose Lodge 2695.  Chip was a machine worker at Dinner Bell.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
