Carl D. Phillis Jr., 64, of Troy, Ohio died on Friday, March 10, 2006 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on March 27, 1941 in Piqua, Ohio to Carl D. and Betty Gump Phillis. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon Collett Phillis; special daughter, Amanda Phillis and granddaughter, Delaney Davis; daughters, Sherrie Jenkins of Minister, OH; Melanie Brown and Pam Rice of Casstown, OH; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; father, Carl D. Phillis Sr. of Troy, OH; and sister, Linda Combs of West Milton, OH. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Gump Phillis. Carl enjoyed his lifetime passion of music, playing guitar and the pedal steel while singing in his first band, Country Aires until his last band, God's Country in Sidney, Ohio. He retired with over 40 years of service from Hobart Brothers and Ametek. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:30am at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with the Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 4-8pm at the Baird Funeral Home.
