Burkhard Joseph "Burk" Zimmerman Burkhard Joseph "Burk" Zimmerman, age 87, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 12:00AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at SpringMeade HealthCenter, Tipp City, Ohio. He was born on August 3, 1923 in Fort Loramie, Ohio to the late Mathias and Sophia Brandewie Zimmerman. His wife, Shirley L. Barnhart Zimmerman, preceded him in death on July 13, 1987. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Mark and Kathy Zimmerman of Troy, Pat and Mary Zimmerman of St. Paris, Ohio and Eric Zimmerman of Troy; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Treva and Vernon Barhorst of Minster, Ohio and Annette and David Haraburda of Sun City, Illinois; one brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Doris Zimmerman of Fort Loramie, Ohio; five grandchildren: Jeremy, Alyssa, Kyle, Bonnie and Jenna; and two sisters-in-law: Lillian Zimmerman of Minster, Ohio and Edna Zimmerman of Troy. In addition to his parents and his wife, Burk was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Zimmerman; three sisters: Mary Rita Poeppelman, Angela Zimmerman and Constance Sister Mathias Zimmerman; and three brothers: Richard, Carl and John Zimmerman. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy and was a US Navy Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theatre. Burk founded Atlas Die Casting in Miamisburg in 1948 and later retired as owner from Apex Die Casting Company in Troy. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30AM on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, with Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Interment will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Friends may call from 5-8PM Friday at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
