Obituary

Beverly Jean  Phillips, 84, a long-time resident of Troy, Ohio died Wednesday May 17, 2017 at Randall Residence in Tipp City, Ohio after an extended illness with Alzheimer's.  Born on December 24, 1932 in  Franklin, PA,  Jean received a RN diploma nursing degree from Meadville, PA City Hospital Nursing School in 1953.  Jean worked at Meadville City Hospital, Stouder Hospital, Upper Valley Medical Center and Hyatt Outpatient Surgery Center as a registered nurse and nurse manager.  Jean was known for being one of the most loving, trusted, caring and patient nurses for the hundreds of people at their bedside.  She received the Florence Nightingale Award for nursing, Who's Who's In Nursing, and various special nursing awards for excellence.

Jean loved people, and treating others with her hospitality.  She enjoyed traveling to more 70 countries, and 7 continents with her husband, including several church mission trips. Jean was  also a member of the Northridge Wesleyan Church.  She served in the local  church in various capacities as a women's missionary director,  children and youth leader/teacher and participated in music ministry.  She also coordinated The Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child with her local and various community organizations.  She loved her family, but spoiled them with her caring devotion.  Jean had a contagious smile that could light up the room.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard W. Phillips of Troy, Ohio. Surviving children include:  David R. Phillips (Beth) of  South Africa, Nancy J. McKinley (Merrill) of Muncie, Indiana , Susan E. Stein (Dale) of Westerville, Ohio.  Surviving grandchildren are: Jason Phillips of Miamisburg, Ohio, Matthew Phillips of Miamisburg, Ohio, Amanda McKinley of Muncie, Indiana, Megan (Bradley) Luchene of Westerville, Ohio, Kristen (Taylor) Williamson of Buffalo,Minnesota, Lathan (Rachel) Stuart of Fishers, Indiana, Landon (Morgan) Stuart of Lexington, Kentucky, and one great grandson, Brady Luchene.  She is survived by her siblings Pauline Shirley, Ron Seely, Norman Seely and Wanda Jewell and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents John and Caroline Seely and a brother James Seely.

Celebration service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Tipp City Church of Nazarene.  Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Peter's Cemetery, Cochranton, PA.  Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Tipp City Church of Nazarene.
