Betty M. Sipe, age 100, of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. She was born on October 6, 1924 to the late, Albert C. and Ina (Wolfe) Marshall. She lived a vibrant and fulfilling life centered around family and lifelong passions. A proud native of Troy, Betty graduated from cosmetology school in Columbus, Ohio. She was a gifted musician who studied organ and piano under Mr. Hance Sr., and her love for the arts extended into athletics. A professional figure skater at the Kettering Recreation Rink and Hobart Arena, Betty was a longtime member of the Troy Skating Club and served on its Board of Governors. She also served as secretary for skate rental services on Merritt Island, Florida—a role that reflected her lifelong commitment to the skating community. She was married to George D. "Geordie" Sipe Jr., who preceded her in death on May 15, 2002. Together, they shared a deep love and commitment to each other and for skiing and mushroom hunting, and traveled abroad extensively, making treasured memories across the globe. Betty remained active well into her later years, continuing as a member of the Kettering Square Dancing Club and the Kettering Senior Center into her 90s. She loved her home and found joy in the gardening it required and spending time with her Kitty. She was also a former member of the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers: Clarence (Faye) Marshall, Gene (Barbara) Marshall, and Maynard (Velma) Marshall; and her sister, Dorothea Brenton Van Velzer. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews for her strength, independence, speaking her mind, and unwavering love for her family. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday August 5, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
