Betty J. Metz Betty J. Metz, age 82, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 6:00AM Sunday February 3, 2008 at her residence. She was born June 1, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio. Mrs. Metz was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bessie Haines Johnson; husband, Melville M. "Dutch" Metz in 1989; and one son, Jerry Marlotte. She is survived by four daughters: Peggy Salas of Troy, Cynthia Leroy Pirtle of Nashville, TN, Tracy Carl Staten of Troy, and Shirley Brewer of Troy; brother, William Strong of Springfield, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Metz was a volunteer with Experience Works of Troy. She loved to play Bingo and shop at Wal-Mart. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 6-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Our mom was a precious gift from God. He gave her a heart of gold, a gentle, sweet soul; he filled her with kindness and topped it off with a quirky sense of humor. She was our friend and our advisor. Our hearts ache for our mom's absence as it will every day for the rest of our lives. We know that God is taking care of Mom now, but we know that she is at peace with our father.
