Obituary

Betty May Glazier Betty May Glazier, 91, formerly of Troy, Ohio, more recently of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away at 7:40PM on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys, Ohio. She was born on July 19, 1917, in Piqua, Ohio to the late Stanley Nelson and Emma Norene Roeser Touchman. She was married to Ronald F. Glazier who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Stanley Earle and Janice A. Glazier and Steven Ronald and Katherine Glazier all of Houston, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law: Sandra Jeanne and Allen Turnbull of Pleasantville, Ohio; son-in-law and his wife, Gene and Shirley Saxton of Troy, Ohio; twelve grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by daughter, Susan Anne Saxton and brother, William Touchman. She was a graduate of Troy High School in 1935 and attended The Ohio State University. Betty was a former member of St. Johns United Church of Christ and the First United Methodist Church in Troy; the Troy Historical Society and Piqua YWCA; former volunteer and Board member with Stouder Hospital; and a former member and travel coordinator with Troy Senior Citizens. She was a founding member of the Troy Mother's Club; she served on a Habitat for Humanity work mission in Nashville, Tennessee and she was formerly active in Elderhostel programs. Betty was more recently a member of St. Marys Kiwanis Club and Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys; she was a volunteer and served on many boards with Otterbein of St. Marys and there was named Philanthropist of the year in 2007. Betty formerly served as secretary for the Troy Pattern Works and the City of Troy Engineering Department and was the former Clerk of City Council. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor John A. Turnbull officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 12:30-2:00PM Saturday, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at Otterbein in St. Marys at 9:30AM Saturday, December 13, 2008. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein, St. Marys Benevolence Fund or State of the Heart Hospice, Coldwater, Ohio.
