Obituary

Betty M. Brandenburg, 81, of Troy, Ohio died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Harborside Healthcare Center, Troy, Ohio. She was born on January 13, 1925 in Troy, Ohio to the late Raymond C. and J. Mabel Scholes Brownewell. She married Jack. E. Brandenburg and he precedes her in death. She is survived by three children, sons and daughters-in-laws; Thomas and Vikkie Brandenburg of Troy, OH; Robert and Donna Brandenburg of Frisco, Texas and daughter, Letona Potter of Huber Heights, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law; Jack and Shirley Brownewell of Banger, Maine; six grandchildren, Scott Kristin Brandenburg of Troy, Ohio; Jennifer David Macurak of Culpepper, Virginia; Jamie Brandenburg of Plano, Texas; Michelle Potter of Huber Heights, Ohio; Daniel Potter of Huber Heights, Ohio and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy, Ohio. Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She formed many lifelong friendships through her involvement, memberships and employment in Troy. She was a member and leader in Troy Senior Citizens, Troy Historical Society, Trojan square dancing, and card clubs. She was one of four to brainstorm and lay our initial guidelines for Troy's Strawberry Festival. Most of which continues today. She was a graduate of Troy High School and lived her entire life in Troy. She retired as secretary from Troy Chamber of Commerce after 20 years of service. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:30 am at the Baird Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James C. Wilson II officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. Friends may call on the family at the Baird Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 5-8pm. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
