Bernice E. Smalley, age 99 of Troy, Ohio, formerly of Casstown, Ohio died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born November 4, 1905 in Miami County, Ohio to the late, Otho E. and Maude HuffordMumford. She was married to Joseph Louis Smalley who preceeded her in death in 1980. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Mrs. Wenzel Kathleen Griffin; Mrs. Gail Laufer; Mr. Jack O. and wife, Katheryn Young; Mr. Monte K. Mumford; Mr. Richard Gruver; Mr. David Rudy and Mr. Glen Rudy. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband; two sisters, Ruth Gruver and Edith Young and one brother, Cecil Mumford. She was a member of the Casstown United Methodist Church; Order of Eastern Star #256, Troy. She had been very active with Casstown Fire Department and as a Sunday School teacher at the Casstown Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Lostcreek High School in 1923. She retired in 1945 from Troy Sunshade Company after 19 years of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Casstown Fire Department.
