Beatrice (Maupin) Unroe, of Troy, OH was born on March 29, 1933 and passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 at 91 years old.

Preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wayne Unroe in 1997, mother Sylvia Maupin, father Lester Maupin, brother Kenneth, brother Bill, sister Deloris Fryman, and daughter-in-law DiAnne (Volk) Unroe. She is survived by son Jim Unroe, son Don Unroe and spouse Brian Scott-Unroe and daughter Judy (Unroe) Welker and spouse Greg Welker. She is also survived by her sister Theta, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.

She was Bea or Grandma Bea to all that knew and loved her. Bea loved to sew and wore out more than one sewing machine. As a stay at home mother, she taught herself how to groom dogs and had a thriving business for many years. Her long life was filled with selfless acts of kindness. She was fond of finding door wreaths, stuffed animals, and lap blankets she could hand deliver to the residents of local nursing homes and assisted living centers; always finding ways to make someone else's day a little brighter. She was a master garage sale shopper. She and Russell specialized in buying broken baby furniture, fixing it, creating an affordable channel for those in need. Later in life, she focused on picking up all sorts of medical equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, canes, etc.) and would offer them to anyone who had a need. When she wasn't doing that, she grew all sorts of flowers and plants that she would share with anyone who wanted them. She always kept a tote full of potted plants in her yard with a sign that said they were free for the taking. Even with a house full of their own children, she and Russell also opened their hearts and home to five foster children who became a very important part of their lives.

There will be a celebration of life held at Baird Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM with a service to follow at 1:00PM.  Interment will take place in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, 3230 North Co. Rd. 25A, Troy, OH 45373.  Please support them. During her final days they were so wonderful to Beatrice and her family.
