Barbara Ernst Wilson, age 82, of Troy, OH passed away on December 28, 2024 surrounded by family.  She was born on March 8, 1942 in Minster, OH to the late Richard and Alvira (Moeller) Boeckman.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years: John Alan "Jack" Wilson; five children: Kimberly (Kevin) Bergman of Ansonia, John (Nicole) Ernst of Tipp City, David (Renee) Ernst of Canton, GA, Jill (Mark) Holobach of Canton, GA and Daniel (Audrey) Ernst of Beavercreek; stepchildren: John (Kristie) Wilson of Troy, Deidra Wilson of Springfield, MO, Patrick (Melinda) Wilson of Grandview; grandchildren: DJ, Logan, Cory, Collin, Taylor, Shelby, Peyton, Dylan, Vaughn, Gibson and Harper Ernst, Kayla, Brittany, and Sherry Bergman, Roslyn, Riley, Grace and Ian Northover; step grandchildren: Beth and Robbie Wilson, Lila and Charlie Raridon, Gabrielle, Kindred, and Mae Wilson; and many great grandchildren.  Surviving siblings include Phyllis Boeckman (spouse of Paul Boeckman) of Centerville, Mark (Florence) Boeckman of Lawrenceville, GA, Ann Bergman of Minster, Cathy (Wayne) Mullenix of Piqua and Joe (Jane) Boeckman of Columbus and many nieces and nephews.  Barb is also survived by her dog Prince, who was a loyal and loving companion that never wavered in his protection of her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Irene Boeckman, her brothers Jim and Paul Boeckman, her brother-in-law Ray Bergman, and step grandson, Connor.

Barb was a graduate of Minster High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wright State University in 1990.  She served as the Director of Human Resources with Upper Valley Medical Center and retired in 2004.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. She was also a member of the Troy Country Club and former member of the Altrusa International of Troy, Hayner Cultural Center Board of Directors and Hospice of Miami County Board of Trustees.  She was a master level bridge player who loved her Cincinnati Reds and UD Flyers.

Barb will be remembered as someone who overcame lots of challenges which included raising five kids on a farm and then going back to school and building a career in human resources.  This journey included starting as a secretary for the Director of Stouder Hospital John Grubb, earning her Bachelor's Degree at age 48, and working all the way up to being the Director of Human Resources for the combined Upper Valley Medical Center all the while lugging her kids around town in a customized silver van emblazoned with a pirate's life motif.

Barb loved her family and for her kids, Barb (Mom) will always be remembered for her patience and understanding in enduring five rambunctious kids with misadventures including counterfeiting operations, wrecked cars, late night sheriff calls, and multiple hospital visits.  Despite this, there was hardly ever a Sunday that didn't include lovingly home-made Chef Boyardee pizzas, breaded tenderloins, or a heaping serving of Shit-On-A-Shingle (ala creamed chipped beef on toast).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday January 7, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, Ohio with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday January 6, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy, Ohio.  The family will also receive friends on Tuesday morning before Mass at Baird Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
