IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arleen Kay
(Frantz) Kuntz
February 18, 1940 – March 28, 2015
Arleen Kay Frantz Kuntz (75) of Troy passed away Saturday March 28, 2015 at Troy Center (formerly Harborside), after a long battle with Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia & Parkinson's.
She was born February 18, 1940 in Springfield, OH. She was raised in Elizabeth Township, Miami County Ohio, the only daughter of the late Carl William and Treva Susan (Brumbaugh) Frantz.
Arleen is survived by her children: Carol (Dale) Artis of Galloway, OH, Chris (Nee) Kuntz of Los Angeles, CA and Craig (Stephanie) Kuntz of Troy; and 6 grandchildren: Cameron and Sydney Artis, Quinn Kuntz and Nicholas, Stefan and Ian Kuntz.
She was a 1958 graduate of Troy High School, 1962 Graduate of The Ohio State University with a BS in Occupational Therapist, and 1990 Graduate of Wright State University with a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Arleen's career as an Occupational Therapist found her in several area hospitals and Nursing homes. Upon arriving back in Troy in 1981 she worked in the Rehab Department at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Dayton, then spent several years at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy in both their Head Pain and Rehab Units, moving out to UVMC when it opened. She finished her career at Harborside Healthcare Center (now Troy Center). She touched countless lives throughout her years in healthcare.
In the late 70's, she and two friends (Shirley Collison & Sandi Dahm) founded Hospice of Mahaska County, IA to help those terminally ill and their families find care and services they needed. She was also a strong believer in holistic and alternative medicine/therapies and continued to educate herself to serve others. She became a licensed Polarity Therapist so that she could help people use their body's own energy for healing, as well as opened an Interactive Metronome practice at Stouder to help kids and teens suffering from ADHD.
A Celebration of Arleen's Life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. April 10, 2015 at the Hayner Cultural Center 301 W. Main St Troy, OH.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association Miami Valley Chapter 31 W. Whipp Rd. Dayton, OH 45459 or Hospice of Miami Valley, 46 N Detroit St # B, Xenia, OH 45385. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bairdfuneralhome.com .
