Antoinette "Toni" Bergsma formerly Toni Clos, age 71, of Big Rapids, MI passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15 at UVMC in Troy, Ohio. Toni was born September 10, 1933 in Sandwich West Twp., Windsor, Ontario, to Pierre and Catharina Kramer Bergsma, who predeceased her. She was raised in Canada, and lived all of her adult life in Michigan. Toni had many varied interests and activities. She was a member of the Humanities Council, worked as the Writer's Group Promoter and Humanities Assistant for Artworks of Big Rapids, and was a former librarian for Ferris State University and Baldwin Public Schools. She was very active in several writer's and music groups, and participated in dog agility training with her dog, Annie. Toni enjoyed storytelling, writing, woodworking, painting, playing her harmonica and guitar, and always encouraged others to use the artistic and musical gifts that God bestowed on them. Toni especially enjoyed studying, discussing, and debating all areas of the Bible. Her faith and love of God were her greatest passion. Toni is survived by her children; Pamela Flachs of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Catharine Clos of Orlando, FL; Elaine Taylor of Tampa, FL; Michelle Dean Deacey of Troy, OH; Robert Laurie Clos of Temecula, CA; and Eric Laura Clos of Evart, MI. She is also survived by her sister Theresia Breault, of London, Ontario, and her brother Fred Marie Bergsma, of Huntsville, Ontario. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Annie. Cremation and organ donation has taken place in accordance with Toni's wishes. A memorial in Toni's honor will be held 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 304 Elm Street, Big Rapids, MI.
