Dr. A. Robert Davies, age 68 of Troy died Friday, October 5 in Pittsfield, PA along with his wife, Shirley G. Culp Davies. Dr. Davies is survived by his mother, Lois Shilling Davies; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Tom Moyer; son, Robert Lane Davies; brothers, Thomas John Davies and Dr. Matthew Harry Davies, DDS and two grandchildren, Sarah Davies Moyer and Thomas Davies Moyer. Dr. Davies was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy. He was a graduate of Troy High School; 1955 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University; 1959 graduate of University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Davies was former Vice President, Chief Medical Director of Nationwide Insurance, Columbus. Previous positions include private practice in internal medicine in Troy and Chief of Staff at Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy; chairman of the Department of Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. Dr. Davies served in various volunteer positions in the area of medicine. His interests had to do with the evolution of the practice of medicine, managed care, and the development of private and public sector population-based medicine.
