Sara Duff Obituary

Sara Lee (Resler) Duff, age 77, of Casstown, OH passed away on February 21, 2019.  She was born on June 19, 1941 in Troy, OH to the late Floyd E. and Josephine (Drake) Resler. 

She is survived by her children:  Rita Duff Petersen of Colorado Springs, CO; Christopher (Marilyn) Duff of Casstown, OH; Melinda (Jon) Laughman of Jefferson, GA; Jonathan (Regina) Duff of Fletcher, OH and Lucia (Omer) Duncan of Crestwood, KY; grandchildren:

Jenna (Brent) Clark; Stephani Duff; Zachary Duff; Madee Laughman; Mallory (Casey) Wilkins, Jesse (Sloane) Laughman; Veronica Dotson; Jon-Max Dotson; Max Duncan and Joseph Duncan and great grandchildren: Baine, Beckett and Baylor Clark; Madison and Sophie King; Sadie Gray and Scarlett Laughman and Bo Wilkins; sister-in-law: Patricia (Robert) Marlow and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband: Max H. Duff; grandson: Nicholas Duff and brother: Gene Resler.

Sara was a graduate of Miami Central High School and attended Wright State University. 

She was a stay-at-home mom until the mid-1970’s and enjoyed working outside of the home in various occupations.  In 2002, she retired from customer service and reservations with US Airways.

Sara was a member of Cove Spring Church.  She was a member of Friends of Hayner, Troy Historical Society, Museum of Troy History, Dayton Art Institute, Xi Gamma Omicron, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi as well as Colonial Williamsburg, Mt. Vernon and the White House Historical Society.  She was a very active volunteer with Miami East Schools, Troy Hayner and Miami County CISV where she served as an adult delegate to Guatemala in 1976.  Sara’s hobbies included writing and documenting family history some of which were published in Miami County, Elizabeth Township and Troy history books. 

Appreciation is expressed from Sara and family to the great support staff at Kettering Oncology Center, Walgreens and her many friends including Byron Mott, Ruth Treon, Jan Baumann, Brenda Blue and Sandy Taylor.  Special appreciation is given to Marilyn Duff for all the care provided to Sara.

Services will be held at 5:00PM on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with Rev. Greg Morrow officiating.  Private interment will take place in Casstown Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-5:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home.  Interment in Casstown Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to the Max Duff Memorial Fund for Miami East FFA, in care of The Troy Foundation; Cove Spring Church or Hospice of Miami County.  Condolences may be expressed to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
