Phillip "Stan" Ray

It is with great sadness that the family of Phillip Stanton Ray Sr announces his passing on Wednesday October 31, 2018 after a brief illness at 81 years old.

Stan (as he was known) will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Jackie and his four children, Judy (Gene Courlas) of North Augusta SC, Phillip S.Jr. (Linda) of Papillion NE, Bradley (Emily)of Troy OH and Andrew of Troy OH.  Stan will also be fondly remembered by his 6 grandchildren, Jaimee Courlas (Allen Holmes)of Spartanburg SC, Libbi Courlas (Andy Zinger)of North Augusta SC, Ben Courlas of North Augusta SC, Katie Ray (Jim Edgington) Omaha, NE, Sarah Ray of Papillion NE and Phillip Stanton Ray III of Omaha NE. Stan also was blessed with 3 great granddaughters and 5 great grandsons.  Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard G. Ray and Ruth (Behnken)of Troy OH, six siblings, Louise Curtis, Betty Myers, Carolyn Myers, Lee Ray, Leonard (Bud) Ray; one grandson, Gene "Chip" Courlas, and one step granddaughter Anne McIntosh.

Stan was born on September 16, 1937 at the family homestead Stonecrest Farms of Troy Ohio.  On September 22, 1956 Stan married Jacqueline (Jackie) Landrey and they lived their entire married life in the Troy area.  Stan started working on the family farm where he learned the value of hardwork.  He later enjoyed being a small businessman, entrepreneur and appreciated the beauty of rural living. 

Stan was an ordinary man, who lived an ordinary life, and had an extraordinary love of family.  He will be truly missed.

Graveside service will be held, Monday November 5, 2018 10:30 a.m. at Casstown Cememtary with Ann Myers officiating.  The family prefers no flowers, but will appreciate donations to your favorite charity or the Alzheimers Association in his memory.  Friends may call at the family residence after the service where refreshments will be served.
