Paul M. Patten

September 24, 2017

Paul M. Patten died after a long illness on September 24, 2017, just short of his 90th birthday.  Paul was born in Piqua and attended Tipp City High School, graduating in 1945.  He majored in chemistry at Miami University in Oxford and attended graduate courses at Ohio State and USC.  During the Korean conflict, he served four years in the Ohio National Guard and U.S. Army, prior to establishing a career in chemical engineering and subsequently as a process engineer in the aerospace industry.  He spent most of his professional career in California at Douglas Aircraft (later McDonnell Douglas) before retiring in September 1992 and returning home to Troy.  Paul was a frequent attendee of the Methodist Church and served as treasurer for the Shenandoah Homeowners Association for over 20 years.  He loved travel, crossword puzzles and his Buckeyes.  He is survived by Marianne, his wife of 67 years, his brothers John A. and Joseph G., his two sons, Randall and Brian, and five grandchildren, Devin, Zachary, Katie, Noah and Nicholas.  In lieu of flowers, remembrance contributions may be made to the Salvation Army and the Franklin Graham ministry.
