MELISSA SUZANNE WANNEMACHER, age 45, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Richmond, IN on October 8, 1972 to John M. and Priscilla (Sparks) Stolle of Troy.
In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by five children: Margaret “Maggie”, Eleanor “Ellie”, Elizabeth “Libby”, John “Jack” and Liam; three siblings: Matthew (Clara) Stolle of Helena, MT, Joshua Stolle and Jessica Stolle, both of Troy; nephew: Samuel; aunts and uncles: Sharon and Bernard “Bud” Werling and Sue and James “Jim” Copp; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: James and Virginia Stolle and Richard and Naomi Uhrig.
Melissa was a 1991 graduate of Troy High School, where she was a cheerleader. She attended The Ohio State University, before receiving her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from Wright State University in Early Childhood Education. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at The Ohio State University. She was a teacher for 18 years, having taught preschool at Gettysburg School in Dayton and kindergarten and first grade at Cookson Elementary in Troy. Melissa was instrumental in teaching young children how to use 9-1-1 and other emergency steps. She was very active with CISV as a young traveler, adult leader and parent. Melissa loved Disney World. Children, her own and others, were her life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
