Marilyn Sue Phillips, age 82, of Troy, OH passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at her residence. She was born on May 15, 1935 in South Bend, IN to the late Franklin Benjamin Lee and Ignota Ruth (Ailer) Lee.
Marilyn is survived by her husband: Jimmie Lee Phillips; children: Teresa Marie Phillips of Troy; Rhonda (Larry) Peffer of Indianapolis, IN and Franklin L. (Lori) Phillips of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren: Morgan Phillips, Katherine Phillips, John Phillips and Laurel (Shane) Peffer Price; great grandchildren: Jameson and Nora Price and sister: Linda (Bill) Kurtz of San Jose, CA.
Marilyn was a graduate of Ball State University with a major in speech pathology and a minor in English. She was a former speech and hearing therapist. She was also a talented seamstress.
Marilyn was a longtime faithful member and Sunday School teacher with the First United Methodist Church in Troy. In the church she was member of the United Methodist Women and Prayer and Praise bible study, a volunteer with funeral meals and a former Stephen Minister. Marilyn also served as past president and volunteer with FISH and a former volunteer with Kairos Prison Ministry. Marilyn will be remembered as a good friend to many.
Services will be held at 12:30PM on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, 110 West Franklin Street, Troy with the Rev. David Leckrone officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00AM-12:00PM on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, 150 East Race Street, Troy, OH 45373.
