JOY M. MADER, age 87, of Troy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 7, 2018.  She was born on June 21, 1931 in Lena, OH to the late Merle and Irene (Tamplin) Deal.

Joy is survived by her husband, whom she shared more than 70 years with: Albert R. “Al” Mader of Troy; four children: Steve Mader, Dan (Pam) Mader, Connie Davis and Julie (David) Glover, all of Troy; sister: Marilyn Everett of Versailles; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie Gross, Steven (Heather) Mader, David (Stephanie) Mader, Christy Mader, Danny (Katie) Mader, Tom (Wes) Mader, Chad (Poetry) Davis, Jeff (Angela) Davis, Jennifer (Andy) Kemmer, Austin Glover and Kellen Glover, all of Troy; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Janice Lillicrap and Viola Neves; and three brothers: Lynn Deal, Gene Deal and Paul Deal.

Joy was a member of First Lutheran Church in Troy and Elisa Guild of the Miami County Shriners.  She and her husband, Al, enjoyed traveling around the world.  In her early years, Joy enjoyed singing with her brother, Paul.  She was a former singer on Radio and TV and gave that up for marriage and family.  Joy later was a featured performer with Spittin’ Image.  Her motto, and also her favorite song, was “One Day at a Time”.  She shared this during her time as a cancer survivor. She was an LPN for 29 years at Piqua Memorial Hospital and then a business partner with her husband at Mader Motor Mart.  Joy will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends.  Joy was the heart of the family and what she enjoyed most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A service to honor Joy’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Troy.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
