Jane (Conley) Estes

Jane Conley Estes, age 95, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Koester Pavilion in Troy.  She was born on February 3, 1923 in Cherokee, IA to the late Alerton and Hildred (Smith) Conley.  Jane was married to Andrew C. Estes and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1998.

Jane is survived by stepson and daughters-in-law:  Andrew “Joe” and Margaret “Maggie” Estes and Kathy Estes, all of Troy; sister: Colleen Wentworth; brother: Richard Conley; special niece: Melissa Basil; many nieces and nephews and numerous step grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by stepsons: Winston and Steven Estes; sister: Barbara Sinton and brothers: Robert, John, Kenneth and Boyd Conley.

Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy and was an active volunteer in the church and food pantry.  She loved gardening, animals and also studying her bible.  She was a registered nurse for 50 years and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas.  She was formerly employed in nursing and nursing education with the Veteran’s hospital in Dallas, TX and Dayton, OH and after retirement continued nursing at the former Villa Convalescent Center in Troy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
