James A. Calvert

JAMES A. CALVERT, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on January 27, 1934 in Tipp City, OH to the late Raymond Calvert and Edna (Schaefer) Calvert Drew.

Jim is survived by four children:  Catherine (Keith) Smith; Susan Arvin; James (Susan) Calvert Jr. and Daniel (Suzanne Bock) Calvert; one brother: Roger Calvert; seven grandchildren: Kari (Paul) Johnston; April Smith; Justin Arvin; Tiffany Arvin; Korey Arvin; Joshua (Erin) Calvert and Jacob Calvert; and one great grandson: Noah Loeffler.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruby Sherrick and Carolyn Calvert; and one brother: John Calvert.

Jim proudly served his country during the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant in the US Army.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 43 in Troy.  Jim earned his barbering license as a young man and defined himself as a barber. After his military service, he worked for a number of years as a truck driver but left trucking and returned to barbering.  He owned several shops over the years and barbered in Fairborn, Troy and Piqua before retiring.

Service to be held at 2:00PM on Monday February 26, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Dwight Stump officiating.  Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with Veterans Memorial Honor Guard services at the graveside.  Friends and family may call from 12:00-2:00PM at the funeral home.
