IRA DAVID “DAVE” KREIDER, age 69, of Troy, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy.  He was born on July 13, 1948 in Troy to the late Billy Kreider and Doris (Ingels) Sherwood.  On March 20, 1971, he began 46 years of marriage to Shelly (Wilson) Kreider and she survives.

Dave is also survived by stepmother: Karol Kreider of Winter Haven, FL; three children: Krista Kreider of Troy, Raquel Kreider of Covington and Kyle Kreider of Russells Point; five siblings: Tim Kreider of Tipp City, Jerry Kreider, Sr. of Winter Haven, FL, Don “Butch” Sherwood of Troy, Cindi Sherwood of Pawleys Island, SC and Jaye Sherwood of Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Katie Banta, Kim Kreider, Hope Kreider, Gage Martin and Grace Kreider; and great grandbaby, Jaxon, on the way.  In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by one brother: Billy Kreider, Jr.; and stepfather: Horace Sherwood.

Dave was a 1966 graduate of Troy High School.  He was also a graduate of Hobart Welding School.  Dave proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Troy Fish and Game, VFW Post 5436 in Troy, NRA and was an avid gun collector.  Dave was formerly employed by Frigidaire.  He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus Plant in Moraine after 30 years of service.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Dale Christian officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City.  Full military honors will be presented by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.  Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
