Helen Olwine

Helen Olwine, age 101, formerly of Troy, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Westlake, Ohio.  She was born April 13, 1917 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Russell and Mabel (Denniston) Rhoades.  She was married to Verl Leon Olwine and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2006. 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Bill Joerg; grandchildren, Krista (Paul) Carte and Brian Joerg; great grandchildren, Petry (Molly) Carte, Caroline (Clifton) Foster and Emma Carte; sisters: Reva Starrett and Phyllis Hardy; and brother: Lowell J. Rhoades.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Ferne Hancock and brother, Leon Rhoades. 

She was a longtime member of the Troy Church of the Brethren.  She was a former cafeteria cook at Troy High School.  She was an avid reader.

Services will be held at 12:00PM Friday, December 14, 2018 at Troy Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Jon Keller and Sheila Shumaker officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Garden, New Carlisle, Ohio.  The family will receive friends from 11:00AM – 12:00PM on Friday at the church.
