Glenn Nally Obituary

Glenn M. Nally passed on November 13, 2018.  He was born on November 8, 1927.  Glenn is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly A. Nally and his five children, Dr. Shawn (Renee) Nally, Kevin (Nadine) Nally, Mary Ann Nally, Kathy (Matt) Chabot, and Maureen Stites.  He has nine grandchildren: Dane Wilson; Graham Wilson; Kevin Nally, Jr.; Killian Nally; Jackson Chabot; Marshall Chabot; Avi Claire Chabot; GiGi Nally; and Wyatt Nally.  Glenn was a faithful, loyal and hardworking husband, father, and grandfather.

He started at Hobart Brothers on 8/28/1967, retiring in 1990. In 2005, the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology was planning to create a Gallery of Welding History to commemorate the rich history of welding and the significant contributions to this History by The Hobart Brothers Company.

Without Glenn Nally’s immeasurable input, from the beginning to the end, this project could have never been realized.

Glenn created a 3-D model of the Gallery based on the architectural drawings. This helped to explain the project to the Board of directors to seek approval.

He assisted in the research of pictures, created many of the pictorial displays and collages, advised how to place them and not only supervised, but also personally helped to make sure the gallery met his high-quality standards.

Thanks to Glenn Nally’s invaluable participation, The Hobart Gallery of Welding History is serving today as an educational resource to explorers of all ages to observe and learn the history of welding and how it has evolved to help create the ingenious tools, products and services that touch our lives daily.

In addition, Glenn received the AWS "National Meritorious Award".  An award that is given in recognition of the candidate's counsel, loyalty and devotion to the affairs of the Society, assistance in promoting cordial relations with industry and other organizations, and for the contribution of time and effort on behalf of the Society.

He asked that no flowers be sent but to make donations to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH, 45373, or your charity of choice.  The viewing will be on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy, Ohio with a funeral mass and burial Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:30AM at St. Patrick’s Church.
