George M. Hobbs, age 97, of Troy, OH passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Brookdale Piqua.  He was born on December 13, 1919 in Belmont County, OH to the late George W. and Laura Mabel (Stiles) Hobbs.  On November 2, 1943, George married his wife of 61 years, Norma M. (Neitzelt) Hobbs and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2005.

George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Dan (George) and Jayne Hobbs of West Milton; daughters and sons-in-law: Gloria and Rodger Henn of West Chester and Patricia and David Berry of Troy; eight grandchildren: Lisa (Bill) Overla; Dan (Jennifer) Hobbs; Travis (Briana) Hobbs; Leah Berry (friend, Jey Roman); Jessica (Rolland) Suh; Jeremiah (Shannon) Henn; Jill (Brian) McGlynn and Jodie (Bryan) Van Dyke; fourteen great-grandchildren and brother: Arthur Hobbs of Edgewater, FL.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by: two sisters:  Margaret Spain and Mildred Brown.

George proudly served his country for 30 years in the US Air Force and was a WWII veteran.  He completed his service as a Senior Master Sergeant having served in Panama, Guatamala, Iceland and Greenland.  He later retired from the US Postal Service.  George loved taking care of his lawn and flowers.

Services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.
