Courtney Christine Whitmore

Courtney 'Bug' Christine (Goonan) Whitmore, born on April 24, 1994 in Troy, Ohio, to Melissa (Vorpe) Goonan and James Goonan, passed away at age 24 on June 12, 2018 in Troy, Ohio. Courtney was married to Josh Whitmore.

Courtney is survived by her son, Aden Miller; daughter, Ellie Whitmore; brother, Trevor Goonan; sister, Sarah Goonan; grandmothers, Rita Doak and Sharon Goonan; and grandfathers, Bobby Doak and John Goonan. She also leaves behind her cat, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Violet Vorpe; and grandfather, George Vorpe.

As a child, Courtney was gifted with wonderful music abilities. She was able to pick up many instruments and make them hers by ear. Very headstrong, she pushed her way through her childhood on her terms.

The youngest of 3, Courtney was always the leader. Courtney loved all living things. She had a passion for her children, music, poetry, animals, and body art. Her heart was open for all of the discarded, from stray kittens to someone holding a sign on a corner, she always had to help. Courtney attended Troy High School.

Courtney gave 2 years of her very short life to care for her beloved grandfather George. Courtney loved her children with everything she was. Courtney had plans of going to College to study Social Work to help those like herself that fight mental health and addiction issues. She believed she would be able to save others, her passion was to help others.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Riverside Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Chapel.
