Catherine A. Starcher

Catherine A. Starcher, age 89, formerly of Troy, OH and more recently of Randall Residence in Tipp City, OH passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019.  She was born on September 2, 1929 in Richlands, VA to the late Charles Chrisman Adams and Willie May (Quillen) Adams.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Nancy Starcher of Tipp City, OH; daughter: Terry Starcher of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren: Nicholas Emerson Sexmith, Hannah Margaret Sexmith, Emily Ann Starcher and Ryan Lee Starcher; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Betty Rader of Spencer, WV and Jerry and Beverly Starcher of Middlesboro, KY and beloved dog: Bandit.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Glen L. Starcher and her sister:  Margaret.

Catherine graduated from the Fairmont West High School.  She furthered her education at Fairmont State College and received her Bachelor of Science from Davis and Elkins College and her Master of Science Degree from Wright State University.

She served as a secretary with the First Presbyterian Church in Troy from 1951-1956.  She was an elementary school teacher at Forest and Van Cleve Schools in Troy until retiring in 1992.  After retirement she was employed with the Troy-Miami County Public Library.

Catherine was a member and former deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy.  She was a member of PEO, Brukner Nature Center, the Little Book Club and the Weaver’s Guild.  She loved to travel and also attend her grandchildren’s activities.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00PM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH.  Graveside service will take place at 10:00AM on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, OH lead by Pastor Bonita Ritchie.
