Catherine Fulton Bensman

CATHERINE FULTON BENSMAN, age 45 of Troy, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at her residence surrounded by family.  She was born in Troy on April 16, 1973 to Thomas M. and Barbara S. (Sutherly) Fulton of Troy.

In addition to her parents, Catherine is survived by her husband: Brian D. Bensman of Troy; one son: Adam Thomas Bensman of Troy; brother and sister-in-law: Dr. John P. and Kathleen Fulton of Troy, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Orville and Ruth Bensman of Sidney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Karen and Steve Weinschenk of Sidney, Anthony and Krista Bensman of Conover, Randy and Sheila Bensman of Sidney, Mary and John Tangeman of New Bremen and James and Victoria Bensman of Anna; several nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was preceded in death by one son: Jacob Brian Bensman. 

Catherine was a 1991 graduate of Miami East High School and a graduate of Wittenberg University, with a BA in Education.  She also obtained her master’s degree from University of Dayton in Special Education.  Catherine was a member of Cove Spring Church, where she helped establish and assist in The Cove Spring Youth Group.  She was a very active member of the ALK cancer group and was a strong advocate of lung cancer research.  She taught reading and language arts at Tipp City Middle School.  She was a former volleyball coach at Tippecanoe.  Catherine also played and was an assistant volleyball coach at Wittenberg. Catherine enjoyed watching Adam participate in many livestock shows locally, regionally and nationally. She loved her family and friends and was an inspiration to all through her teaching and blogging.

Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Cove Spring Church with Rev. Greg Morrow officiating.  Burial will be held at sunset on Monday at the Casstown Cemetery in Casstown.  Friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday at the church.
