William "Bill" Twiss Obituary

William “Bill” Douglas Twiss, age 70, of Troy, OH passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2024 at his residence. He was born on March 18, 1954 in Erie, PA to the late William Custer and Patricia Ann (Lutz) Twiss.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Diane (Dyas) Twiss; children: Michael (Erin) Twiss, William (Mandy) Twiss, Michele (Steve) Knostman and Meredith (Eric) Lutz; grandchildren: Caleb, Ethan, Adam and Abigail Twiss, Anna Belle, William, Ruby and Georgia Twiss, William (Elizabeth), Charles, George, Andrew and Benjamin Knostman and Isabel and Henry Lutz; brother: Robert (Janet  Christie) Twiss; sisters: Susan (Mark) Welty, Sandy (Larry) Smith and Sharon (Billy Joe) Emerick all of Troy; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Sally Twiss.

Bill was a 1972 graduate of Troy High School and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of Wooster in 1976. He had many wonderful memories at Wooster where he ran cross country and welcomed the birth of both his sons. He had a successful and fulfilling career in sales with both Intermec and Honeywell where he was recognized for numerous sales achievements. He enjoyed various work trips and made many long-time friends from co-workers. Bill was also an original board member of Partners In Hope and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

After his retirement in 2021 he joined his son’s company, Level MB Construction, where he worked as a facilities manager. He loved the employees of Level MB and was never happier than when he was delivering materials to job sites, visiting all the employees, taking them a coffee, providing a listening ear, or just making everyone laugh. He was the glue that held the team together.

More important to Bill than all these achievements was the relationship he had with the Lord Jesus Christ. For over 40 years he dedicated his life completely to God. He lived what he believed, and his faith was evident in everything he did. He was a long time Deacon, Trustee and Worship Leader of The Tabernacle of the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord with all his heart and has left a legacy to his kids and grandkids of what God can do with a submitted life.  He enjoyed cycling, golfing, kayaking, and traveling. He loved his many missionary trips around the world including the Philippines, Trinidad and Zimbabwe. He traveled annually with lifelong friends on a men’s bike trip that was meaningful to him more than words can explain and he loved his special place in Eleuthera, Bahamas.

He will be missed terribly by his loving wife, his children and his sixteen grandchildren. He was so much more than just a husband, a dad, or a grandpa. He invested time and interest in every single one of them and fostered a relationship that will be treasured forever.
