Russell F. Van Horn

RUSSELL F. VAN HORN, age 94, of Tipp City, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit in Troy.  He was born on October 18, 1923 in Dayton to the late Russell E. and Caroline (Schaeff) Van Horn.

Russell is survived by his wife of 72 years: Betty J. (Gilleland) Van Horn; two children: Vickie (Ed) Latta of Troy and Steven (Debbie) Van Horn of Tipp City; sister-in-law: Jerry Van Horn of Bainbridge; two grandchildren: Jessica (Justin) Lucous and Joshua Keyes; four great grandchildren and many extended family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Robert K. Van Horn.

Russell served in the Army Air Corps in WWII.  He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City.  Russell was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Antioch Shrine Temple of Dayton.  He retired from BF Goodrich after 35 years and continued doing consulting work after his retirement.

His memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on March 21, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 14 West Walnut Street, Tipp City with Pastor Jeff Glawe officiating.  Private burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City.  Fellowship will take place at the church following the service.
