Robert A. Ward, age 75, of Troy, OH passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  He was born on March 17, 1942 in Jacksonville, IL to the late James Delmar Ward and Alberta (Wilner) Ward.

Robert is survived by his daughter: Kendra Hudgins of Troy; sister: Helen Corbin of Sun City, AZ; two grandchildren: Keya and Donielle; great grandsons: Kohen and Langston; nephew: James D. Ward, Jr., Nieces: Joy, Rhonda and Carla; and companion: Patricia Nuss of Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Verna Jean Ward; one brother: James D. Ward, Jr.; one grandson: Thomas Brian; and his long time fur buddy: Tango.

He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962-1967.  He was a landing signal operator on the USS Independence.  Robert toured overseas in the Holy Lands, France and Spain.  He was employed as a telephone installer by United Telephone and later by T. I. C. (Tom’s Installation Co.), where he retired.  Robert loved hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his Harleys.

Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home with his nephew, James D. Ward, Jr., officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
