JOSEPH EDWARD DRIELING, age 89, of Troy passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at his residence. He was born on October 1, 1927 in Dayton to the late Joseph J. and Alice Lillian (Lobaugh) Drieling. His wife of nearly 72 years, Phyllis M. (Rhoades) Drieling survives.
Joe is also survived by a son: Dennis D. Drieling of Ludlow Falls; daughters: Carol Ann (Robert) Mascari of Wheelersburg, OH and Pam Allen of Troy; brothers: William Drieling of Bradford and Jerry Drieling of Montezuma; six grandchildren: Anthony, Andrew, Adam, and Alan “Joe” Drieling and Aimee and Robert Allen; twelve great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one son: Edward Lee Drieling; one daughter-in-law: Regina Drieling; and brothers: Bruce and Larry Drieling.
Joe was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School. He was a US Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Orion. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Covington, Franklin Masonic Lodge #14, Troy, Antioch Shrine and Miami Co. Shrine, Farm Bureau, Cove Springs Grange, and Past President of Corn Growers Association. Joe retired in 1975 as supervisor at Globe Industries and in 2000 from farming.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Covington. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with Masonic services by Franklin Masonic Lodge at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the funeral home.
