Joseph L. Alexander

Joseph L. Alexander, age 89, formerly of Troy, OH passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant in Monroe, OH.  Joe was born on September 21, 1928 in Russia, OH to the late Alfred D. and Magdalen (Monnin) Alexander.  Joe was married to his wife of 45 years: Jean (Maher) Alexander and she preceded him in death on July 24, 2002.

Joe is survived by his children:  David and Anna Alexander of Bowling Green, KY,  Mary and Jim Cruea of Troy, Janet and Greg Parish of Lebanon, OH, Jim and Lisa Alexander of Tulsa, OK and Ann and Charles Boughner of Liberty Township, OH ; grandchildren: Tom (Alyxe) Alexander, Katie Alexander, Matt (Bri) Alexander, Michael (Kristin) Alexander, Elizabeth Alexander, Jena Parish (Jacob) Clancy, Evan (Alex) Parish, Austin Parish, Conolly Boughner, Magdaline Boughner; and great grandchildren: Miles and Lincoln Alexander.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law: Firman and Theresa Alexander; and sister and brother-in-law: Rose and Roger Koverman.

Joe was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, where he served as an usher.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a volunteer with St. Vincent DePaul.  Joe proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Infantry from 1951-1952 during the Korean War.  He graduated from Russia High School in 1946.  Joe retired from Trans World Airlines after 32 years of service.  He was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his late wife, Jean.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Rosary Service to follow.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00AM on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
