John Joseph Enright, age 75, of Troy, OH passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017.  He was born on April 19, 1942 in Detroit, MI to John Theophilus and Eileen Agnes (Bleckiner) Enright.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgann (McGee) Enright; four children:  Sean Enright of Troy, Erin Enright (Scott) Harris of Troy, Emily Enright (Steve) Turcol of Tipp City, and Katherine (Timothy) Enright-Miller of Troy; special aunt, Joan DeDene of MI; siblings:  Michael (MaryAnn) Enright, Brian (Mary) Enright, Eileen Enright Mailloux, Kevin (Ivana) Enright, and Neal Enright, all of MI, Daniel Enright and sister-in-law, Toni Stromar of CA, and brother-in-law, Tony DuBon of MA; three grandchildren:  Anwen, Zane, and Amelia Harris; mother-in-law, Marjorie Kaur; three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews; and his two cats: Barney and Baxter.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Linell Enright-Dubon.

John was a National Merit Scholar Finalist from Notre Dame High School, Detroit, MI.  He received his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.  John was formerly employed with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus.  He retired from BF Goodrich Aerospace in Troy, OH after nearly 40 years of employment, and he held numerous patents.

John belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  He was an active member of the Troy Civic Theatre for many years where he enjoyed directing, acting, and set-design.  He loved being on the stage and was well known for his one-liners and political satire.  John was very creative and influenced children in that direction as a coach in Odyssey of the Mind competitions, as well as many other endeavors.  An avid Michigan football fan, he was a lifetime member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association.

John was considered a tree-hugger who enjoyed nature, birds, flowers, and gardens.  He was also an environmentalist who liked to repurpose old things.  He was very generous, opening his home to many family members and friends.  Family trips to Grand Marais, MI were the highlights of his year.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy with the Rev. Fr. Eric Bowman officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:30 p.m. on August 11th and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on August 12th at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
