I was very sorry to hear of John's passing. I enjoyed working with him, respected his intellect, and really liked him as a person.

My heart goes out to all of you. Jay was one-of-a-kind and I will hold tight to my memories of him and all of you, especially in Grand Marais. It was clear how much he loved his family. He had a way of empowering kids and making them feel special. Jay was always ready for adventure but seemed equally content to just sit around and talk (usually with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in his hand--depending on the time of day)! So sorry I didn't make it to the funeral, but am sending love and hugs to all.

I have so many great memories of John beginning with the SWHD floats in the festival parade..Puff the Dragon.. his engineering touches and humor were top notch! Working with John at the theater was some of the greatest times.. oh my..his stories!
We were truly blessed to have him in our lives. John and I offer our prayers for your healing and strength..

Mr E. as I called him is very dear to me and will be remembered fondly in so many of my childhood memories! I came to meet him and his big hearted welcoming family through his daughter Erin my best friend! We had a special relationship that I will always hold near and dear to my heart! His love for theater and the dramatics brought much laughter and Halloween at the Enrights were one of the most treasured to me with a gleam in his eye , limitless options of costume possibilities , a giant dragon and all were welcome to make the block scary and Mrs E always with sloppy Joe's and cider on the stove! He would reprimand me if I knocked on the front door, "you don't knock Jennifer" as he was walking away. Cook outs. . . not enough space to say it all! Liked looking like a mad scientist and did it well while an intelligent, funny, welcoming man is certainly whom I knew! Miss you Mr E but your memory lives on with many!! ❤️~ Jennifer Columbus

I got to know John at BF Goodrich (Now Untied Technologies Aerospace Systems). John's ability to convert the real world into mathematical expressions is unmatched in my 36 years as an engineer. I like many of his coworkers saw his work as a thing of beauty. He also taught me one of the most important things as an engineer - to know the important from the not important. John became a great friend that I will miss. He made the world more interesting. John and I have spent many hours drinking coffee - and during those time he spent most of it talking about his kids. The love he had for his children far exceeds his greatness as an engineer. I will not be able to make it to the funeral as I have a commitment to my grandson's birthday party. I am not religious, but John lives on in all of us. He has greatly influenced who I am.

I didn't know John, but he sounds like someone I would have loved. Having lost four, yes four, siblings I know the heartache. There is no one more special than a brother or a sister. They are precious and remain in our hours.
