Welcome to the memorial page for

Harry "Sed" Sedler, Jr.

August 25, 1925 ~ August 28, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

HARRY “SED” SEDLER, JR., August 25, 1925 – August 28, 2017, 92 years old of Tipp City, formerly of Grand Island, NY.  Harry passed away quietly in his sleep at the SpringMeade Rehab Center in Tipp City.

Harry (Dad, Sed, Roseman) has left the building.  Harry was the son of parents who immigrated from Czechoslovakia in the early 1900’s. With only the Czech language being spoken in the home, the English language was not learned until he started school.  He was a son, brother, husband, uncle, father and friend.  He was a violinist, student, service man and salesman.  He wore many hats through out his 92 years, all with a great sense of humor, pride, class, and honor.

Harry was born Harry Sedler, Jr., on August 25, 1925 in Buffalo, NY to the late Harry Sedler, Sr., and Olga (Danzer) Sedler, and embarked on his new adventure on August 28, 2017, reuniting once again and for eternity with his late wife, Margaret (the love of his life).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Olga Sedler, Sr, wife, Margaret C. (Kennedy) Sedler, numerous brothers and sisters inlaw and several nieces and nephews.  He is survived by his daughter: Kennedy Sedler (Leslie) of Troy; son: Harry “Buddy” Sedler III (Amy) of Dayton; two god-grandchildren: Addyson and Jackson Godwin of Troy; Sister: Nancy Chilelli of Lebanon, NH; sister-in-law: Anna M. Kennedy of Greencastle, PA; forever friend (sister of the heart): Loella Bishop of Lewisburg, PA; over 100 nieces and nephews, spanning over four generations; and some of the best neighbors on Driftwood Drive in Grand Island, NY (most notably, Judy, Elizabeth, Molly and Jimmy Wynne, Maria Del-Signore and Connie and Chuck Vacanti), true friends to the end.

Harry served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class and Hospital Apprentice First Class (medic) at Parris Island, SC.  He began working at the young age of 11 as a bike messenger (bike delivery boy) at his neighborhood drug store and completed his working career as a salesman with Mathew’s Buses Inc. in NY at the age of 78.

Harry will be remembered for his class, sense of humor, mischievous nature, his story telling and song renditions in many languages, his love of wine (oh, how the wine industry has taken a major hit this time), as the Roseman (handing out lapel roses to the ladies), and as the Dad who loved his children whole heartedly.  But most notable, he will be remembered as a Dapper Dan – one of the most classy, best-dressed men, there ever was.  He was always dressed to the nines.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Troy on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:30 PM with full military honors.  Condolences and remembered stories (please bring the stories on) may be expressed to the family at www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
