You were a good neighbor and friend. We had over 30 + years of this. friendship. You had such a long battle of fighting lymphoma. We shared a lot of good memories and some bad throughout the years. Our kids grew up together and then awe the grandchildren. I think you liked the role of being Grampy the best. You were so proud of telling me the stories of your grandchildren. You deserved this role after the pressure of raising Six of your own children. I want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Gloria, your children and grandchildren. Your in our thoughts and prayers. Hang on to the precious memories. We will also. Love you all..and deepest sympathy to all of you.

Rocky and I were quite saddened to hear of Claude's death. At work he always spoke proudly of his family and especially delighted in his grand children. Claude was an engaging person to talk to and a fine person to work with. He will be missed.

The Begin family home in Phillipsburg was an amazing place to grow up. Andrew (Andy back then), Claude's youngest son was the friend I spent the most time while growing up. Phillipsburg, if you don't know is a "most of the time" sleepy one stop light Village. Now, the Begin Home was anything but SLEEPY, active, yes very active! It would not be uncommon for 10+ people to be at the home most nights...mostly family with a couple of friends also stopping by that were treated just like family. Big Meals (yes, that happens when you have 6 kids) were common (Thank You Gloria!) and were delicious!
Andrew, myself, and our other cast of characters were loud, rambunctious teens that always didn't follow all the "Parent Approved" games as we grew up. Now multiply that by three sisters Nicole, Meredith, Kathy, and Brothers Chris (Tim was serving in Military for our Country for most of the time, but when home his humor definitely added) and you get some amazing laughs, great conversation, and even some yelling (how else are you going to be heard in a group this big)!
The atmosphere would have been enough to almost give any Dad a "Heart Attack" but not Claude, he is a "Fighter"! Growing up living in Brooklyn till he was 18 he was definitely "Brooklyn Tough" and it showed. Claude served our country for 8 years. Twenty Three Years he battled and beat Lymphoma. It was obvious that Claude loved our country.
Knowing Claude and the Begin family was a blessing! He could demand respect but didn't forget about love, love for his family, love for friends, and love for Christ. I didn't see the entire Begin family as much over the last decade but the times I did I remember the "Joy" Claude had for his grandkids. The laughter that he had with his kids.
Claude was an amazing storyteller, there were many times when we were all together and we would just start talking to or asking questions knowing that some knowledge and a great story were sure to follow. Andy (not to mention the other siblings) loved to instigate some "lively conversations" with Claude. Claude had this great "Look and Pause" before his comeback, which lead to more conversation, elevated voices, more conversation, and finally laughter. At my house and with my family this would have been awkward... but this was "True" Begin, it was their "Love Language" that gave them joy.
I want to thank the Begin family for the love you showed me, the pure enjoyment, and laughter I got from hanging out at your house!
