Arlen L.  Reed, age 86, of Troy, OH passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Upper Valley Medical Center.  He was born on July 9, 1931 in Troy, OH to the late Ralph and Augusta (Furrow) Reed.

Arlen is survived by his wife of 67 years: Clara M. (Knecht) Reed; daughter and son-in-law: Pam and Mike Bennett of Raleigh, NC; son and daughter-in-law:  David and Jeannine Reed of Troy; daughter-in-law: Tammy Reed of Troy; six grandchildren: Eric Bennett, Mike Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Thomas Reed, Bryan Chaney and Chris Reed; and four great-grandchildren: Eva Marie Bennet, Nolan Bennett, Benjamin Bush and Madelyn Reed.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Carol Reed Chaney; son: Roger Arlen Reed; grandson: Mark Chaney and sister: Nancy Harnish.

Arlen attended the Troy City Schools.  He was a longtime member of the Troy Church of the Brethren.  He retired as Master Sergeant with the US Air Force after 20 years of service having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  Later he retired as District Manager with the L-K Motels.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Troy Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Jon Keller officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with full military honors.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Church of the Brethren, 1431 West Main Street, Troy, OH 45373.
